# General FAQ

## What is asset escrow?

Paid scripts are encrypted through the Cfx.re Asset Escrow system. They only run on servers with a license key from the Cfx.re account that received the asset. Configuration, locales, SQL files and the framework bridge stay open. See Downloading Your Scripts.

## The resource fails to load or reports a missing entitlement

* The server license key must belong to the same Cfx.re account that received the script.
* Do not rename the resource folder.
* Download from **Granted Assets** in the Cfx Portal and extract the full ZIP.
* Keep your FXServer artifacts up to date.

## How do I get updates?

Updates are delivered through Keymaster: download the latest version from **Assets -> Granted Assets** in the [Cfx Portal](https://portal.cfx.re/). Back up `config/` and `locales/` before replacing the folder.

## Can I switch frameworks?

Yes. Every script detects ESX Legacy, QBCore or QBox automatically, no config change needed. Database data is framework-specific and has to be migrated separately. See Framework Bridge.

## Do I need ox\_lib?

No. CrankChaos scripts ship their own callbacks and UI.

## Can I translate the scripts?

Yes. All texts live in `locales/*.json` and can be edited.

## Can I edit the code?

Only the open files (config, locales, bridge, marked data files). Encrypted Lua cannot be changed. Need a hook that does not exist? Ask on Discord.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://ccfivem.gitbook.io/ccfivem-docs/help/general-faq.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
